OOTD: The Navy Polka Dot Dress

I picked up this darling little dress from Old Navy a few weeks ago and am loving its vintage-y feel. It's originally $34.94 but I scored it for less than $20 during a store sale (word of advice: never buy anything full price from Old Navy -it's bound to go on sale about 2-3 weeks after it first hits the store.)

If you're more on the petite side, it'll be a little loose. I don't mind it because of the tie.

And not even a fun, cute laugh -a dorky, super wide with eyes closed type of laugh. I kept the really embarrassingly hideous ones out of the post.

Valentine's Day Gingerbread House Project

Boyfriend and I bought some gingerbread kits during the holiday season but never got around to doing the projects. We decided to finally build the house but added our own Valentine's Day twist to it. Above are our two little gingerbread people.

My boyfriend recently shaved his head and is now sporting a (teensy) mohawk which is what that line of blue frosting is. I was going for a Madonna vibe but then changed my mind and went for a Jackie O look.

We decorated the pieces first before putting the house together and let me say -WHAT A MESS. We had to add loads of extra frosting to get the walls to stick together which is why it doesn't look as neat and pretty as it should.

This is my favorite part of the whole house. While I was striving to make the house look "normal" and pretty, he was getting creative and doing things like this!

Decorating supplies

Although our house collapsed in the end (we rebuilt it 19395343 times), we had so much fun building it. It was nice to just make something together and see the end result. I'm very lucky to have a boyfriend who will do things like this with me. Our next project will be finishing up the gingerbread people kit! -_______-

Dress Search: Time for Teal?

I'm on the lookout for a Valentine's Day dress. Something cute but with some added length (long sleeves/longer length/etc.) since it will be cold. And another thing, something preferably teal.

Everything I'm giving my boyfriend is sports related and teal is the team's main color. That's where this dress comes in. I've had my eye on this Forever 21 dress for about a week now but the x-small and small sizes were sold out online. Luckily, I randomly popped into a Forever 21 store last night and found the last x-small!

The strapless dress is a deep, rich teal. It features a sweetheart neckline, empire waist, and pleating detail throughout the dress.

I do really like this dress and I can see it being very versatile. It can be dressed up with heels for an evening out or dressed down with flats or even flip flops on a cool summer day.

My local Sanrio store (and I'm sure others too) has come out with many new Dear Daniel & Hello Kitty items for Valentine's Day. One of my closest friends is named Daniel so anytime I see Dear Daniel stuff, I like swoop it up right away. I was so happy to find this best friends necklace.

I also picked up a set of key caps and some pins. If you have a Daniel in your life I recommend stopping by your local store and taking a look! They also have a bride and groom set of them and things like that (way too much for my Daniel and me though.)

The Importance of Flowers

Tonight I'm up late caught in my thoughts on "life" again. My boyfriend got me flowers the other day -he always does. In the three or so years that I was with my ex, never once did I receive a thoughtful bouquet of flowers. He did once buy me a single rose off a San Francisco street after much kicking and screaming but that was it. My boyfriend now has gotten me (a bouquet) of flowers five or six times since last October. Oh yea, and we've only "officially" been together for a month.

Ok, maybe it's not so much flowers that are important, it's the gesture. It's the thought and time put into things of this nature whether it's getting you your favorite fancy beverage from the upscale coffee shop down the street or picking up the latest issue of Cosmo. These little things here and there are so extremely important. A few days ago, he got me an owl shaped candle and some tiny boxes with owls on them (yes I love owls!) It's these small things that remind me just how lucky I am. This isn't to say that my ex was horrible or anything. He did these "small" things sometimes but never on his own -I always had to ask.

Anyways, I'm beyond thrilled to be with a person who does these "small things" naturally without my nagging/begging/pleading. If you have a guy like this, hang on tight and remember to return the love.

The Brow Tech was the only non-sale item. I've been lemming for it since mine ran out but Sephora stores stopped carrying it and it was out of stock online since forever!! I wanted to pick it up during the F&F sale so I'm really unhappy that I had to pay full price! However, I am relieved to finally have it.

Hair clips from Giggles and Frills

I see a ton of other Etsy sellers with practically the same items (right down to the color) so I think a good amount of them are just using the same pattern. However, what makes Giggles and Frills stand out is that she doesn't just do felt hair clips. Most of the clips are made with ribbons which are creatively put into place to form various objects like rainbows and ballet slippers. I highly recommend this seller.

And lastly, I bought "He's Just Not That Into You" which is one of my favorite movies. =)

Late Night Creation: Whimsical Bracelet

I stumbled upon a store called Brighton Collectibles over the weekend and was immediately drawn to their vast array of pretty things including many accessories and jewelry. The "jewelry station" immediately caught my eye because of the assortment of chains, ropes, beads, and charms that could be combined to make your very own work of art. However, once my eyes landed on the prices (about $10 and up per bead/charm), I was out of there in a flash.

I headed to my favorite bead store and went to work. I purchased about $20 worth of supplies (beads, charms, wire, clasps, etc.) and headed home. I ended up abandoning the cool charms I purchased to save for a future project and created something more simple instead. My bracelet cost only about $8 to make. I figure if I'd made one at Brighton, it would've cost around $130 or more (everything was ridiculously expensive.) Next time, I plan on saving even more by purchasing my materials online.

Do you ever get inspired to make things on your own? With the high prices on everything today, I'm finding myself resorting to DIY projects more and more. I also purchased the earrings below (on sale) from Aldo to make some brooches ($10 for everything.)

Diggin' the Green

I've been looking all over the place for a green coat (forest or emerald would be fine) but since winter's nearly over, the coat search has turned into a jacket or blazer search.

I was thrilled when I found this beauty while roaming Forever 21. At around $32, I'm a happy girl. I don't generally wear the same coat or jacket every day because I LOVE outerwear too much to stick to one piece so something "fun" (as opposed to a classic black blazer or tan trench) needs to be on the "more affordable" (aka cheaper) side.

I'm loving it. What do you think?

I'm Back! An Update on.. well, everything.

I've been gone for a really long time -I think possibly the longest I've ever gone without writing a post. Usually I'd apologize for being gone but to be honest, I'm not sorry. It was a much needed break. This semester has been incredibly hectic along with life in general. I drifted away from makeup BIG TIME. I've accumulated quite a number of new products (old habits don't change huhh) but didn't touch a thing. It's tough making time for makeup or any full (or partial) beauty routine with life gets chaotic. I'm finally on winter break though and I'm ready to get back into blogging. =)

So what's new? I've made it a point not to get too personal since this is of course a beauty blog but I guess there are a few things I'd like to share (or my posts could get confusing!) This year, I'm staying very focused on school because it's my first year taking all of my major/minor classes. So blogging time became study/paper writing time. I also broke up with my boyfriend of 3-4 years a few months ago. Now I have a new boyfriend and to be honest, I'm much happier.

Also, I've acquired a few new obsessions. I've always liked hair accessories but now I'm in love. I mean, it's gotten to the point where it's a wee bit extreme. I wear a hair clip or headband every day nearly every single day. I also now have an unhealthy outerwear addiction (blame it on the sales smh..) And lastly, I've grown a deep love for salad. I am absolutely in love with Pluto's and must thank my dear friend Nina for introducing it to me months ago. I go practically once (or more) a week. And what does my fave salad consist of? Romaine lettuce, avocado, boiled eggs, onions, sunflower seeds, wontons, and Asian dressing. Yum!

Oh, and lastly, I also got a new camera (Canon T3) which I purchased as a birthday present to myself and cannot wait to show you the loads of pictures I've taken. Seriously, I have a lot to share. All my friends make fun of me for snapping photos of every detail of my day but I always tell them, "It's for the blog!" So now I must post them. I was VERY disappointed to learn that they no longer give you all the flavors. I got original, wild cherry and tropical (two of each.) Where's my butterscotch and mixed berry?!

I bought a few Chocomize bars for a some of my loves for Christmas and am so excited! I haven't tasted them yet but I love the idea of being able to create your own chocolate bars. You even get to "name" each bar yourself -the name is printed on the back.

Boyfriend got me this fabulous Bebe crossbody last month and it's currently one of my favorite bags. My other favorite is this gorgeous Gap bag I got on sale for around $17 (please do me a favor and check it out because it's really a lovely bag.)

Dried pressed roses from a few months ago. Whenever my flowers start going bad, I press them. I just stick them inbetween two sheets of paper, put them into a large book (like a dictionary), and put heavier books or objects on top of that book. Check back on them a few months later and you have beautiful, pressed flowers.

Rose Gold

Armani Exchange rose gold watch (no idea what the name is since I left the box in the car -I'll update if anyone asks!) I was browsing the watch section in search of a pretty rose gold number. I checked out the oh so popular Michael Kors and Marc Jacobs pieces first but to be honest, I didn't really love any of them.

I nearly settled for a Marc until I walked by the Armani display. It was love. However, all the watches were too big, too plain, too blingy, just "too" something. Then, the sales guy pulled THIS baby out from behind the counter. Supposedly, none of the stores have put this version out yet so I'm glad to be the "first." It's just perfect. It looks a lot like this except one mine, the face is pink and there are crystals surrounding it.

I love love love this!! Call me obsessed but I'm already looking at other colors now -I think I'm about to become a watch whore. On my list: White/Gold, Dark Gray or Black/Gold, Chocolate. Mmmmmm..

This is one of my first birthday presents for this birthday and I couldn't be happier. Thank you thank you thank you to the person who gave it to me. <33

I think Netflix started it all. Pay a flat monthly rate and receive whatever DVDs you like. Then there was that company the Kim Kardashian endorsed where you pay a flat rate and get a pair of shoes. Then there were sites like Jewel Mint and Style Mint (which I have purchased from as well.) So when I received an email from Adore Me earlier this week asking if I'd be interested writing about their company, I was immediately intrigued.

Unlike other companies who generally offer clothing, shoes, or makeup/skincare products, Adore Me supplies its customers with a full set of lingerie for $39.95 a month. What made me really interested was the free shipping/returns. I can't tell you how many times I've ordered something online only to have to pay an outrageous shipping or return fee. Lingerie is tough -it's not a "one size fits all" type of deal. You need to try it on, feel the material, and get the right fit.

How does Adore Me work? After taking a personalized survey, customers are taken to individual show rooms that have been customized just for them. If you like something, you order. If you don't, you skip it. Also, each month, a new showroom is created. I like the idea of being able to "skip a month" and then come back -that way I'm not paying for something by the month and receiving something that I'm unsatisfied with. I'd much rather be able to pick and choose what I like versus having to buy something just because I'm paying this monthly fee.

So far, Adore Me sounds like something I'd like to try. I cannot yet give you feedback on their products or services but I will definitely update you when I get a chance to try them out. For $39.95 for a full set, it sounds like a sweet deal. When I buy lingerie at the store, I'm generally paying $50-60 for a bra and then an extra $15-25 to complete the set!

Overall Grade: B-

The Packaging: The Hello Kitty shaped compact is the answer to any Hello Kitty lover's dreams. The charming palette features a silver (mirrored) bow and colorful "graffiti" along the surfaces of the compact. When the top tier is opened, a nicely sized mirror can be found above the four eyeshadows. The second tier reveals the two blushes.

I absolutely adore the packaging. I really appreciate that they kept the classic kitty shape down the bow. Also, while the compact is a tad bulky, it's bulky enough to be sturdy yet it's not so bulky that it's too large for travel. It's love.

Ingredients

The Product: Aside from the cuteness factor, I wasn't crazy about the actual "product." While the eyeshadows swatch decently, applied, they're not so great. They were "too soft" which made them powdery which then resulted in some fallout. There was decent color payoff but eyeshadow primer is a MUST. The blushes weren't any different and I had to swatch them several times to pick up the color.

Overall: While this palette does have decent quality eyeshadows and blushes, I would never use it. If this were my only palette, I could of course see myself getting some use out of it. However, with my collection, I would never reach for this when I have so many better options -it just wouldn't make sense. To me, this is more of a palette to get for "collecting purposes". If you're looking for top quality eyeshadows and blushes, this is not for you. But if you're only fishing for something "adorable", this is the palette for you.

How to make a love package..

I was making a love package for a friend over the weekend so I thought I'd do a post on a "how to" for one. I absolutely love giving "packages" as opposed to a single gift. These are things I personally like to do when it comes to my love packages:

Stick with a theme. This could mean similar colors, shapes, patterns etc. For this box, I went mainly with pink, purple, and strawberry flavored snacks and sweets.
Add lots of yummy treats. I like adding foods that you wouldn't see at your local CVS or Target.
Add some useful items. For this box, that would be the hand sanitizer and the Sharpies (but in the color theme of course.)
Add fun, random things. Hello Kitty air freshener, toy flower, and golf erasers? Check.
Make sure it's nicely packaged. To me, presentation means a lot. I forgot to add a photo of the "final product" but I simply tied it all together with a teal bow (ran out of time) to match what I was wearing. =P (It would've been frilly and pink if I had the time!!)

Up All Night

I was up all night baking these darn cupcakes. Sure they're the lazy woman's version of a Hello Kitty cupcake but they still took so long to bake (different cake flavors, mixing frosting colors, cleaning, etc.) Six hours total and I'm finally done.

I think I'll be taking a LONG break from cupcake baking after this. I'm tired and I'm only on a few hours of sleep. Can't wait until tonight!! I look forward to sleeping and cuddling with my Lotso bear.

4 New Glosses

THE best "pick me up" for me personally is a tube of lip gloss. You can go with the drugstore route and spend anywhere from $1-8 (sometimes there's even a BOGO deal) or you can go high end and splurge on that $30 tube of magic lip serum you've been eyeing for months. Either way, a tube of gloss does wonders when you're having a bad day or aren't in the most wonderful mood.

I picked up the (first) three above last week -the Nuance gloss has been in my "to try" pile since the collection came out but it was long forgotten. The forgotten products in your stash also work as fabulous pick me ups when you don't want to spend!

Cargo Classic Lip Gloss in Alexandria is a mauve baby pink with shimmer. When swatching at the store (Beauty 360), I thought it would be much more pigmented so I was rather disappointed that it applied sheer on my lips. For $22, it's really nothing special -just a nice every day gloss.
L'Oreal LeGloss is flipping amazing. At around $8 (way cheaper if you go to Walmart or Target), I got two tubes of pigmented gloss that I'd never expect to come from a drugstore. Peach Fuzz is a bright almost neon tangerine out of the tube but on the lips, it applies as a nice, natural color with a tangerine orange tint. I expect Baby Blossom to be a big hint since so many girls tend to reach for the nudes and pale pinks. The color is a milky very pale pink that's super opaque with no shimmer. It's nice but it can be a bit much -you only need the teensiest amount.
Nuance Ultra Shine Lip Gloss is the first product I've tried from Salma Hayek's new line. I bought "Pomegranate" hoping for a more subtle, very natural looking gloss and it's quite nice. Once applied, it looks very natural with a tint of raspberry pink and no shimmer.

Weekend Presents: MAC Dress It Up Pro Longwear Lipcreme, Stickers, & Friendship Bracelets

Sometimes the best presents are small and thoughtful. Well in this case, only one of the items (the lipstick!) was meant to be a present but friend boy ended up buying me the other things while we were at Walmart. I got the new MAC Pro Longwear Lipcreme in "Dress It Up" (from the Styledriven collection), cutesy stickers, and a friendship bracelet set.

I swiped on Dress It Up (a pale blue pink) today and it's become on of my current favorites. I love that while it's still a pale pink, it's "dark" enough to wear for fall. As for the formula, it applies smoothly which I really appreciate since so many pale lippies tend to accentuate any dryness/cracks in the lips. I'm not sure about the wear yet -I'll have to test it out more. (Christine's review here)

Now, is Dress It Up different from the other 54935840 pale pink lipsticks in my collection? Not really. However, I do often run into problems with my pinks being too cool or making my lips look super dry (not cute) so this is a winner in my book. It's just a really nice standard pale pink and I urge your warm skinned ladies to give it a try (it'll look amazing on cool toned gals as well.)

A little love from BeautyFix

I'm so excited to be working with BeautyFix. I first heard about them from another blog and I was instantly intrigued. I sent them an email and now here we are. The first package included eight products plus a makeup bag (of my choice) and two samples. It will take a few weeks to test everything out (there's a lot of skincare in here) so look out for the review in a month or so.

How does BeautyFix work? It's simple. You create a beauty profile by doing a survey (they ask for skin type, hair type, etc.) and when you're done, they come up with a bunch of products for you to choose from. You choose eight products and one makeup bag and you're good to go.

What I like about BeautyFix is that unlike other "surprise boxes", you get to choose what's inside. Yes, I love the idea of a "surprise" but I hate when I'm not even interested in half of the contents inside. Below are the products I received.

I got to the mall...... and buy toys

I went to the mall the other day and came back with a shirt and then tons of toys for me, myself, and I. Just kidding. Three were for the kids but the rest were for me. ;) I got a few to add to my Toy Story collection. =)

I also had to pick up Pocahontas. I love Pocahontas. She's strong, independent, and brave. What more could you ask for in a woman?

Oh yea, and this is the sushi I ate for lunch on Friday. It looks (sort of) good but it made me so sick. =\

Too Faced Sweet Dreams Makeup Collection Review & Swatches

I've been yearning for this baby (along with all the other Too Faced holiday products) since the promotional images came out. When I saw it available on Sephora.com (early isn't it?!), I promptly placed an order and paid extra for faster shipping. Was it worth the extra three bucks (for shipping)? Heck yes.

The Packaging: The palette is made of durable, thick cardboard. This year's theme features a gorgeous trapeze artist sitting on top of a pretty pink swan. There are also plenty of butterflies, flowers, and glitter. The edges of the palette remind me of a fancy picture frame and while I thought they'd be easily bent out of shape -the cardboard is again quite thick -you'd have to really force it to wreck anything.

The palette opens to reveal a nicely sized mirror and 15 eyeshadows. Underneath, a drawer holds the bronzer, highlighter, blushes, and instruction cards. The only bummer is that there is no compartment for the Shadow Insurance (primer) -when I opened up the box, it was just placed at the top of the palette.

While the packaging is undoubtedly beautiful, it's slightly unpractical. While there are no pop-ups or wasted space like last year's palette, the palette is still quite ~~large~~ ~~huge~~ gigantic. It's about the size of most of the novels on my bookshelf and would easily blend in with them. I'm running out of space for humongous palettes like this.

The Product: This palette offers a great value -you get more than you pay for. However, compared to Enchanted Glamourland (last year's palette), you're paying $52 versus $49. Also, instead of getting a full size lip gloss, you get an extra highlighter and blush.

Eyeshadows- They eyeshadows are fabulous. I always use a primer and with TFSI, I have no issues -they last all day without creasing. The color payoff is great and the texture of the eyeshadows is very smooth and soft. However, Lovey Dovey, Cut the Cake, and Cop A Teal seemed to be especially soft because I received some fallout from those three shades.

Prior to ordering, I was a little hesitant to purchase the palette because I was afraid of repeats. There are a total of six repeats (just from palettes I already own.) However, that's still nine new shades. I do have one problem with Too Faced and their repeats though -sometimes they're inconsistent. For instance, they'll use the same color name but it's a totally different color. Take Smolder (in this palette) and Smolder from the Eye Love palette -one is navy and one is black!

Chocolate Soleil Bronzer- This bronzer seems to be fairly neutral and I see it working with many skin tones. It's matte and isn't too deep or too light providing a very natural bronze shade. However, it is by no means "flat" -there's a nice natural sheen to it but no over the top glow or glitter. Also, the bronzer has the yummiest chocolate scent and surprisingly, it doesn't bother my sensitive skin. It lasts about 3-4 hours (on bare skin.) For me personally, I'd prefer something a little darker (because of my skin tone) but this is a great option for those who prefer a more natural bronze.

Candlelight Glow Highlighting Powder- This highlighter gives off a sheer ivory champagne glow with lots of small golden shimmers. I'd call this, "natural without being totally natural" -does that make sense? This lasts about 2-3 hours (on bare skin.)

Cocoa Rose Blush- This is a very neutral pink and gives a natural wash of color. On my skin, I can barely see it (just because I have medium/tan skin.) So honestly, I can't tell you how long this lasts or doesn't last.
Sweet Pink Blush- Now this is a blush I like. It's gives cheeks a punch of color while remaining natural looking yet playful. It lasts about 4 hours (on bare skin.)

Shadow Insurance- TFSI is one of my absolute favorite beauty products. It prevents eyeshadows from creasing, enhances color, and locks down your eyeshadow all day (about 10 hours.) I also prefer this over UDPP when the skin area my eye area is extra dry -it works better and doesn't make the dryness worse.

Overall: The Too Faced Sweet Dreams Makeup Collection would make an excellent present (for you or some else). It can be an instant makeup collection for a beginner or fun addition to any makeup junkie's drawer. Because the palette does have a few eyeshadow repeats, I'd double check before adding it to your cart and hitting the checkout button. Is it the palette of the year? I don't think so (mainly because of the repeats) but it does house some amazing products and shades. But all in all, for $52, you get such a terrific value -it's definitely worth a second look.

I just got the Too Faced Sweet Dreams Makeup Collection in the mail and I'm so excited for it!! I just needed to post a little sneak peek.. I'm working extra hard on getting a review up. I put five other reviews on hold (misc.palettes and products) for this and it should be up by (I hope!) next Monday or earlier -hopefully earlier. =)

How was your luck with Missoni @ Target yesterday?

Yesterday was an insane day in TargetLand. I'd been looking forward to their highly anticipated Missoni collection to hit the stores for months but I didn't even realize just how highly anticipated it would be. I checked the website a few times before 5 a.m. Tuesday morning (when I went to bed) and nothing was up on the site yet. At 9 a.m. when I checked again, the site had crashed. At 10 a.m., I headed to my first Target. At 10:15 a.m., I was informed that practically everything was sold out.

I've never seen so many frantic women running down the aisles at Target before. From young twenty-year-olds to middle age housewives, everyone was grabbing whatever Missoni leftovers that they could get their hands on.

I spoke to a few Target employees at each of the stores. Everyone pretty much told me the same story. People were lined up outside at 7 a.m. and by 8:15-8:30 a.m., everything was gone. Ladies were piling everything into their carts -without even looking at the prices or sizes. This obviously meant that they were buying just to re-sell. Smh..

When I got home, I checked eBay and was not surprised to see a ton of listings -I'm talking in the thousands. This really bothers me. They need to place a limit on how many items each person can buy when it comes to collections like this. Because we have all these people hoarding everything only to resell it and then there's people like us who just want a few things for ourselves -not to resell anything and get over on anyone. Everything on Ebay is at least triple or more times the normal price. It's absolutely ridiculous. What also ticks me off is that Target (from what they said) will not be getting anymore Missoni shipments into the stores (I hope this isn't true though so still crossing my fingers!)

All in all, I went to a total of four Target locations. The first was a total miss -I couldn't find a single thing. I found the boots and flats at a second Target (Thank God I can fit kid's sizes), and then I found the rest at the third forth stores.

Girls Rain Boots ($29.99)- I bought a size 3 but I'd love a size 4. I could probably get away with leggings and thin socks but I could never ever wear jeans or pants with these (due to how slim the calf area is (on me at least.)

Girls Flats ($22.99)- I got these in a size 3 as well which is a tad small but the size 5 was way too big. Again, I'd love a size 4. I prefer the colors in this flat over the women's version (mostly purple) but I really would've loved to buy both. Oh well, at least I got one.

Girls Pleated Sweater Skirt ($24.99)- This was my last pick (size x-large.) I'd say it fits like a women's x-small or small. I'm so happy I tried this on. I don't generally wear or buy skirts but I really like the soft pleats and it's not too frilly for my body type.

Floral Scarf ($14.99)- The colors look faded and washed out due to the sunlight but it's a gorgeous design. I don't generally wear scarves like this but I will now! =)

Bobby Pins ($6.99)- I found this laying on a random table (thank goodness for rude customers who leave stuff laying around on the wrong shelves.) I wasn't going to get them at first but hey, it's Missoni! I thought I'd "splurge."

Headbands ($9.99)- The last item I purchased was a set of two headbands. All the sets either had a missing band or broken one so I grabbed two that were in perfect condition. I really wanted the solid blue band (goes well with my hair color) but it was cracked.

This is what all the Missoni walls and shelves looked like. Lonely, sad, and all alone.

Xhilaration Purse ($3.74)- This purse was randomly placed on one of the racks with no clearance stickers. However, I decided to take my chances since there were no others like it around. Good call because it turned out to be just under 4 bucks! The "leather" is quite soft and I love the clasp and color. This just might be the best buy of the day.

Did anyone else go to Target hoping to score some Missoni goods? What did you get? And what did you want but couldn't get?

P.S. Please don't support those eBay sellers trying to get over on us. If they're trying to sell at for hundreds/thousands, you might as well get the "real thing" anyways. I think in terms of buying on eBay (for these Missoni items) I'd only get it if 1) I desperately love and need it and 2) It's only $5 above the retail price. It's not a matter of money -I feel like it's definitely a principal thing. It's not right that people are buying out the store only to resell it and make loads of money.

Mom's Long Lost Dior

I was rummaging through my mom's bathroom cabinet when I stumbled upon this little lipstick case (above). Curious, I opened it. Inside the case was a very old tube of Dior lipstick.

Judging from the design (and being no expert on Dior whatsoever), I figure it must be from the late 90's or possibly early 2000's. What does it look like without the top on?

Oh my! A nearly empty tube with oodles of melted lipstick goodness. But let's swatch it..

Mmm.. Violet Spectrum is a gorgeous shade of red with a touch of burgundy. I can see why she kept it.

Do you keep very old things even though they're pretty much completely useless because of sentimental value or because they're just too darn gorgeous to throw away?

P.S. I just now realized that I own absolutely nothing from Dior. Now I have to go buy out and buy..

Coach Cambria Tartan Flats

I'm probably one of the few non Coach-crazed Asian girls in the U.S. I'm almost 100% positive that every single one of my female friends and family members (aside from my mom) owns a Coach bag whether it be a version with the logo all over it or a pretty leather number. It's always Coach. Heck, some of them even rock the bag, matching shoes, and a matching watch -all at once! While some of the leather bags are enticing, I'm really not a fan of of their bags with logos galore.

Well, I'm no longer a Coach virgin. I picked up these Coach Cambria Tartan Flats (in Blue/Red) at Marshalls this week. For $60, they were a little pricier than I'd like for flats but a total steal since these were originally $138 (retail price.)

And best of all, no logos. =) There are so many times where I'll really want to buy Coach flats or rain boots only to find the darn "C"or "Coach" name printed all over them. While others might be into that sort of thing, that's just not my personal style. I generally like my labels and logos more to be a wee bit more discreet. I don't like my clothes and accessories screaming, "Hey, look at me -I'm a walking billboard!"

But I do have one exception. I really wouldn't mind a huge LV tote -but I'm sure any girl would love one of those.

For reference, I purchased a size 6. I'm a (large) 5.5 but I can usually get away with wearing a 6 (for flats.) These tend to run a tad "long" but with the help of some inserts, that shouldn't be a problem.

Very Old OOTD: Target Romper & Miss Trish Sandals

I was organizing my desktop which is littered with dozens and dozens of folders containing loads of photos in each for blog posts on my to do list. I take photos for posts but I always get so caught up that I forget to write the actual posts. Anyways, here's a little summer-y number I wore over a month ago. I paired a the simple Mossimo Kimono Romper with a Gap cardigan and my favorite Miss Trish Jaguar Sandals.

I really love this simple romper and considering the fact that it was only $10 (purchased during a 2 for $20 promo), it was a total steal. However, it's made rather "short" meaning there's a super snug fit along the crotch area. I'm exactly five feet tall and I just barely made this work.

Here's a closeup of the sandals. I think I'm going to pick up another pair because I can already see myself wearing these to pieces. They're absolutely adorable and really add some pizazz to everything I wear.The only downside is that they're not the most comfortable -I wouldn't wear these all day while doing some major shopping or for a long night out.

I'm back! First "real" post in forever: August 2011 Favorites (plus H&M, leopard, storage, & more!)

August has once again been all about minimal makeup. It's too difficult to put on a pound of makeup before class when I'm super tired and only half awake. Because of that, the routine has been 1) fill in the brows 2) eyeliner along the upper lash line 3) a dab of mascara 4) a dash of bronzer and 5) a wee bit of highlighter.

Harajuku Lovers Makeup Girls (Solid) Pencil Case- I purchased this makeup bag about a month ago and I've found that it's the perfect bag for a day's worth of (minimal) makeup. If I'm out for the day, I'll pack this case up with a gloss, some mascaras, a brush or two, bronzer, highlighter, eyeliners, brow gel, and primer. (Buy the clear version here)
Gap So Pink Body Mist- So Pink has been a staple on my perfume shelf for years. I recently bought a couple of new bottles during the Gap 50% off sale and I couldn't be more thrilled to have backups of one of my very favorite scents in the world. I'm the worst person at describing perfumes and sprays and if I were to describe this magnificent scent myself, I'd totally butcher it and leave all of you afraid to try it. It is described (as stated on the bottle) as being a "flirty blend of citrus and flowers." It's a floral yet very simple and clean scent. (MakeupAlley reviews here) (Buy in stores)
MAKE UP FOR EVER Smoky Lash Mascara- I recently busted out my sample tube (from the free VIB "Must Have" kit) and discovered that this mascara definitely lives up to its hype. I have short, pathetic, tiny lashes to begin with and I have to use primer and two or three mascaras but the end result is fantastic. It's a great lengthening and thickening mascara and I love the rich black color. I bet that Smoky Lash would be absolutely fabulous for those with medium to long lashes on its own. (Buy here)
Sonia Kashuk Blusher/Powder Brush (from Gold Mine set)- I bought the SK Gold Mine set nearly two months ago but I've only used this brush so far. I really like the slightly smaller, convenient size of this brush. It's great for carrying in my travel bag. I use it mainly for highlighter but prefer a bigger brush for blush/powder. It's decently soft but I do sense the slightest bit of scratchiness -nothing bothersome though. (Buy here)
Urban Decay Baked Bronzer in Gilded- I reviewed this back in July but I still absolutely adore this gorgeous bronzer. It's just really easy to use and blends in so nicely. When I'm in a hurry, I just dash some along the hollows of my cheeks and I'm set. It gives me the perfect warm, golden glow and pulls together my (very simple) look. (Buy here)
Guerlain KissKiss Gloss in 800 Crystal Pearl- I don't normally buy $30 lip glosses (make that $30.50 to be exact) but I bought this one on a whim on one of those "I don't care -I'll buy whatever I want" type of days (do you have those too?!) Girls and our mood swings.. smh. Anyways, it's beautiful. The color is practically clear but with the slightest hint of shimmery baby pink mixed with purple. Although it mainly contains a tint of pinky-purple goodness, it almost has this "rainbow" effect going on. There are a bunch of cheaper versions that look similar but I can't recall anything exactly the same. Also, it smells oh so delicious -like the sweetest candy in the world (without being sickly sweet.) For the price, I'd expect better staying power. It only lasts about 3 hours on me. But, I do love the nonsticky formula, its moisturizing properties, the unique shade, and the yummy scent so it's a keeper. (Buy here)
Yes To Carrots C Me Smile Lip Butter in Melon- I love to try new lip balms and I really like this one. I'd say it's more moisturizing than the average lip balm. However, it's not the cure to dry, cracked lips. I use this when my lips are "normal" but when they're cracking and peeling, I have to turn to something a little stronger. Oh and the melon flavor is right on and smells exactly like it should. (Buy here)
First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream- I wouldn't be surprised if this stuff was magic. My skin's been pretty funky lately. I have this horrible dry patch on the left side of my forehead and on the bottom of my chin. I apply my CeraVe first (all over the face) and then apply this right after. No, it doesn't cure my dryness instantly but after a few days of once to twice daily use, it helps the situation a lot. I also use it on my body -especially when my legs start to look scaley and resemble crocodile skin. (Buy here)

H&M

I never really loved H&M until this past month. I'm so impressed with their Fall collection. I'm absolutely loving their blazers with the elbow pads and all their plaid offerings. All the items I've purchased so far have been at some really great prices too -$30 for nice blazers and coats, under $30 for a few pretty dresses, and $20 and under for some lovely sweaters. Leopard Print
I can't wait for fall/winter so I can start rocking the leopard. It's an easy way to spruce up a simple, boring outfit. I can't wait to rock black leggings and a top with my leopard coat or jeans, a tee, and my leopard loafers.

I am officially in love with the Sam Edelman Adena flats (..they're really loafers so why are the called flats?) I eventually gave in and bought Gunmetal. I was planning on waiting a little while longer since they're so darn expensive (at least for me) but this color was selling out everywhere. It couldn't wait. Eventually, I want black too -but I'm waiting for a sale.

So why do I love them so much? They're everything I love in a single shoe. They're sparkly but not tacky. They're gorgeous but still comfy. And I absolutely love love love loafers right now. Also, I associate them with one of my favorite movies as a child. Remember A Little Princess? These loafers reminded me of the slippers from this scene (@ 3:20) the minute I put them on. They're just magical.

Hey everyone! I've had a busy day with the family but I'm finally home to rest for an hour or so before we head out again. I wanted to share these adorable Zipper-Bow Faux-Leather Flats I found at Old Navy and get this, they were only $3.48! There was not tag so the manager gave them to me for $4.97 plus an additional 30% off. (Click here to print. I got this coupon in my email but this is a RetailMeNot version.)

When I got home, I checked online and they're actually regular price still at $24.94! Mine were the last pair left (that I could fine) so I'm wondering if they're really on sale at all stores -or if mine were a lucky mistake.

I think you all know by now that I love shoes -especially flats. I've been wanting a zipper bow pair so I'm very pleased with these.

T.J. Maxx & Marshalls theBalm Haul

After reading Mai's post Sunday night, I was eager to search my T.J. Maxx locations for the Meet Matt(e) and TheBalm & the Beautiful (a.k.a.Muppets Cast Your Shadow) palettes. After calling six loactions and visiting one, I walked away with Meet Matt(e) ($16.99), Betty-Lou Manizer ($12.99), Mary-Lou Manizer ($12.99), and Bahama Mama ($9.99). I was absolutely thrilled to find the second two because I'd just purchased both from Sephora at full price (those will be returned now!) However, I was still super bummed that I didn't get my hands on TheBalm & the Beautiful so I headed to a nearby Marshalls where I found Frat Boy and Cabana Boy (both $9.99).

Tomorrow will be another "hunting day." I'm headed out of the city to find this darn palette and I realllllly hope I do. It would totally make my ~~day~~ ~~week~~ month!

I've been eyeing these for Sammies for quite some time. Although I do buy a lot of things, I usually wait it out over a matter of days, hours, and sometimes even weeks to make sure that it's something that I absolutely need. On Sunday night, I bit the bullet and I have no regrets.

I was debating between the Rose Gold and Gunmetal for so, so long but ultimately went with the Rose Gold because I felt that it would go well with my skin tone -plus, Gunmetal was out of stock on Endless.

And I was right. Rose Gold is so stunning. My photo and online stock photos do not do it justice. It's the loveliest nude rose gold color and goes so well with my skin. I still do want Gunmetal (for when I wear cooler shades) but I am so in love with the Rose Gold and am very happy with my purchase. Also, I'm a (larger) size 5.5 and the size 6 fits nicely.

I want all of Sam's loafers now! I have four more on my wish list. Oh yea, and it's not just Sam -I think I'm in love with the whole Edelman family. I'm loving his wife Libby as well. I already own two pairs of her Kendra ballet flats!

I'm sure you've all heard about Missoni's upcoming collection for Target. To be honest, I wasn't that hyped up for it until I saw an ad in Lucky last week. Since then, I've been dreaming about this collection. I recently stumbled upon a great link I wanted to share containing loads of images for the upcoming collection. Shoesies: Hive & Honey "Genne" Ankle Boots ($20 STEAL!!)

I just got these Hive & Honey "Genne" Ankle Boots in the mail a few minutes ago and had to do a post. I obviously haven't been out and about in them yet but from what I can tell, these are a pretty amazing steal at only $19.97 (original price was $139). Piperlime offers free shipping as well -only catch is that these are final sale.

As far as how the boots look and feel, I'm really loving the 1 inch platforms which offer comfort and height. I also really like the overall design as well and I feel they'll be great for late summer and early fall -too cold for winter though. Also, just for reference, I purchased my usual size 5.5 (lots of reviews recommend getting a size down) and they fit perfectly. However, I am a "larger" size 5.5 but just under a 6.

Oh how I wish I had one of those photographer boyfriends.. Today I'm wearing my $10 H&M sale find with my Miss Trish Jaguar Sandals from Target (so obsessed with these.) I also added a silvery gray bow to accentuate the waist -the dress can be a wee bit overwhelming for someone of my height (5'0).

Target Shoe Rack

My shoe situation was getting out of hand so I picked up this Over-the-Door 18-Pair Shoe Rack from Target for $13.49 (on sale). It didn't fit over my door -my door wouldn't close properly, so I had to mount it onto the wall. The ratings (online) give the shoe rack a 1.5/5 star rating but so far, I love this rack. Many reviewers complained about the rack NOT being for heavy or big shoes. Because I'm a size 5.5-6 and because this rack is for my flats only, those issues weren't a problem.

Now for the fun part.. the shoes!

I'm in love with Ivanka Trump's Scapoli Flats

I spotted these beautiful Ivanka Trump Scapoli jelly flats (in navy) at Marshalls a few weeks ago but sadly, the smallest size (size 6) was too big for me. I couldn't get them off my mind. I went back and luckily, they still had the size 6. I'm going to try and put some inserts in them to make them work but we'll see!

Over this past week, I searched online for them in a size 5 but they seem to be sold out pretty much everywhere. With some luck though, I (or boyfriend) was able to grab them in pink but 1) I don't know how the color looks in person and 2) I don't know how a size 5 fits -I'm almost always a 5.5.

I can't wait for them to arrive in the mail! The photos online do NOT do them justice. They are so elegant yet so playful at the same time. I can't wait to switch out my ugly rain boots this winter with these gorgeous bright flats. Oh, and I hope they're comfy.

If you're interested and see them anywhere in your size, the navy and light pink (it has a hint of coral) are absolutely to die for.

Gwen Stefani (or her team) seem to always come out with the cutest things. I love the designs on their makeup bags and their perfume collections. I don't necessarily love the actual fragrances but I do love the perfume bottles. I think Super G (above) may be the best yet! I've never seen anything like it. However, I'd love to see the other Harajuku girls dressed up as super heroes and mermaids -why is it always about G?

Urban Decay 15-Year Anniversary Palette Review & Swatches

Urban Decay's 15-Year Anniversary Palette seems to be the "most talked about" product at the moment. At first, I was unsure about it but as time went on, it became something that I had to get. I wanted it more for "blogging purposes" in the beginning but after having worked with the palette, I'm falling in love with it more and more every day.

The Packaging: As I mentioned before, I don't like the packaging. To me, it's a hot mess. The lid of the palette is packaged in a smoky mirror material and contains a cool "laser-cut filigree design" along the edges (as described on UD's product page.) The top of the lid contains a purple, jeweled "UD" logo. Inside the lid, there's a huge mirror which is a nice touch. The tray holding the shades is made of a bright purple, mirrored material. And the final touch is a "secret compartment" -the tray holding the eyeshadows is removable therefore revealing the tiny compartment.

While the design is indeed very original, I rather have something more practical. The cons?

Too heavy
HIGHLY prone to fingerprints
The lid is too loose and comes off very easily
Not ideal for travel
Too big to store
The hidden compartment is so small. Sure, there will be room after all the eyeshadows are used up but 1) Who's is going to actually use up all these shades and 2) It'll still be too small and too bulky even if you use up all the eyeshadows. I'd much rather have a jewelry or trinket box that I can store a lot in.

In other words, I'd much prefer something in a sleeker, more compact design. Why does Urban Decay always feel the need to package their amazing their amazing eyeshadows in such bulky, impractical packaging?!

The Product: The palette contains 15 limited edition shades that have never been released before. While some have argued that there are dupes, of all the UD eyeshadows I own (and I only own 2 other palettes -sold the rest of my UD palettes), I don't believe there are any "exact" dupes. Yes, there are bound to be similarities but no exact dupes as again, these are all new shades.

As for the product itself, the color payoff, like most Urban Decay eyeshadows, is excellent. I didn't hit a single "true" dud. I read Christine's review and she mentioned that Tainted "sheered out easily." I guess in a way, it does, but I really didn't have too many problems with that particular shade -it's actually one of my favorites in terms of color. Each shade applies very smoothly (like butter!) and blends fairly easily. However, out of all the shades, I did find Evidence to be slightly chalky and stiff. It didn't feel as smooth as the others but overall, I'd say the quality of the shade is still very good. As for the shade that I liked the least, it would be Blackout. I had to layer it on a few times to get a "true" black and while it is a very good matte black, I do feel like I have other matte blacks that are better.

The Color:
I've read so many shade descriptions for this palette -here's my take on the shades..

Midnight Rodeo- Taupe-y brown bronze with a touch of champagne and subtle glitter
Midnight 15- Frosty pale, "dirty" champagne with a touch of silver shimmer
Vanilla- Pale yellowed ivory with golden shimmer
Flow- Frosty light peachy champagne with shimmer
Chase- Frosty tanned bronze with a touch of gold and shimmer
Tainted- Slightly warmed, rosy lavender with champagne shimmer
Junkshow- Bright violet-fuchsia with a touch of violet shimmer
Omen- Blue-violet with silvery blue shimmer
Evidence- Deep sea blue with blue shimmer and sheen
Deep End- Frosty teal with shimmer
Deeper- Deep bronze with a touch of olive and golden shimmer
M.I.A.- Deep brown with the slightest touch of plum and copper shimmer
Ace- Very deep gray with subtle silver shimmer (leans almost blue to me)
Blackout- Matte black
Half Truth- Cool deep silvery purple with silvery shimmer

Overall: This is a great value. At $17 per single (0.05 oz) eyeshadow, you're basically getting 15 full size eyeshadows for the discounted price of $55. Individually, the eyeshadows would cost a grand total of $255 -that's a savings of $200!

The palette contains shades from three categories: neutral shades, bright fun shades, and deeper, smoky shades. This is a palette that could fit individuals of all different tastes. It's a great all-around palette for someone who's just starting out and would like to buy high-end eyeshadows in a variety of different shades. It's also a wonderful palette for any makeup junkie or collector.

The quality is there. The only reason the palette got an "A-" is because of the packaging. Change that and it would definitely be a a solid "A".

I didn't have much to work with as far as decorations went and time was very limited. I made both cakes plus another batch of Rice Krispies treats in 1.5 hours. I have to say I was pretty proud of these although they were both fairly simple and easy to make. =P

I got some really cute pictures of the kids but I'm a little weary of posting them up since I've had my photos stolen dozens of times.. =\ It's really too bad. I love sharing photos of my friends and family.

Remember how I was debating over Urban Decay's new 15-Year Anniversary Palette? Well, after it sold out, I wanted it 100 times more. I know -I'm crazy. =P Since then, I've been on the phones with Sephora and Macy's nonstop and checking online retailers on a regular basis. Anyways, I found it at Sephora last night (they weren't on the shelves yet -I had to ask) and I couldn't be happier.

However, one thing that I absolutely HATE about it after only have examined it for 15 minutes? The packaging. I don't care what they say. Sure, the packaging could be revolutionary, original, and unique but to me, it's just a mess. It's basically made of a smoky mirror material -think H&M store mirrors (I believe most have these types of mirrors.) It's tacky, HIGHLY prone to fingerprints, and the lid doesn't even stay on properly. This is NOT ideal for traveling whatsoever. Yes, I understand it's more for "display" but I have way too many products to be putting everything out on display. I'd prefer if everything was neatly tucked away..

BUT, I am loving the shades. A review and swatches will definitely be up soon. I know I haven't been posting many reviews lately but this is priority #1.

Also, this week my bestie sent me a hand-made bracelet. Thought it matched the palette. =P

Why I Love Beauty 360..

I had been eyeing the Jack Black Face Moisturizer (with SPF 20) and Eye Balm for about a week now. My original plan was to pick them up at Sephora but I decided to try Beauty 360 instead. Sure, with Sephora, I'd get my points but at Beauty 360, I always always get so many extras. I've walked away with many (full size) GWPs and samples in the past.

Yesterday, after picking up my two Jack Black products, they also gave me a mini Lip Balm in Lemon & Chamomile and set of three hair products! Also, they had a whole bunch of samples jars so I snagged to of those. I'm not sure if it's just my local Beauty 360 that's so generous but give them a try! They always have so many awesome deals.

Nudey Tuesday: Urban Decay Bronzer in Gilded

This is really just a quickie -no in depth review today and I do apologize! I just haven't had time for them and am seriously reconsidering the way I write reviews. I still want to keep a majority of it the same in terms of how I review the actual product but I think adding things like the packaging and going too into detail about things that aren't too important are just more time consuming than they are useful.

Anyways..

I picked up Urban Decay's Bronzer (for face and body) in Gilded last week during the 25% off summer sale. I actually only wanted to get a Pocket Rocket gloss for my friend but since free shipping requires customers spend $50+, I threw in a few extra items that I definitely didn't need.

Since the sun starting showing its face around here, I've been on a real bronzer kick. I have a handful of bronzers but they're all either matte or very tan or orange-y. I wanted something that was shimmery (but not over the top) and golden.

Review..

Urban Decay's new bronzer in Gilded does the job. When applied, it shows up as more of a "glow" -no disco ball cheeks here. I have more of an olive undertone but I love how the warm, very golden bronze color brought so much warmth to my skin. To be honest, I felt like Asian Malibu Barbie and as lame as that sounds, that's a plus in my book -at least on certain days.

As for the negatives, I think the only thing I can say is that the bronzer lasts about 5 hours (applied over primer.) But then again, I've seen so many bronzers and blushes only last for 2-3 so I'd say 5 hours is pretty average.

Prior to purchasing the bronzer, I read Christine's review. She notes in her review that this (new) version contains a lot less product than their previous one which I didn't catch. I absolutely hate when companies do that. However, being the makeup junkie that I am, I'm not too concerned about that because I know I'll never use this up. And $26 (for 0.26 oz) is actually cheaper than I'd expect from a high end brand since other (high end) bronzers usually go for around $30 and up.

Overall Grade: A-

Urban Decay 15th Anniversary Palette: To buy or not to buy?

It's 5 a.m. and I've been staring at Urban Decay's 15-Year Anniversary Eyeshadow Collection online for the last 30 minutes. Since Christine's review went up, I've been checking back at UrbanDecay.com all night for it to go up. Sadly, the 25% off summer discount code doesn't work. Sadly, Urban Decay isn't on Ebates. I'm so cheap -I know $55 is a great deal for this palette but $60 (including tax) is pushing it when I already have so many gorgeous eyeshadows sitting in my makeup drawers and littered all over my table.

I could wait for Sephora to carry it so that I at least earn some cash back and 55 points. I have a strong feeling that this will sell out FAST. Remember the Naked Palette? People still weren't able to get that months after it launched. I don't want to make that mistake. What to do..

New Cut & Dye

I'm the type of person who can't wait for anything. Last Sunday, I scheduled a hair cut at some 5 star place (according to Yelp) but I found out I wouldn't be able to come in until Thursday. THURSDAY. I couldn't wait four days. So, I popped into some random place and got a trim and some long side bangs for $11.

Right after, I stopped by CVS and picked up two boxes of L'Oreal hair dye. And now I have this. I like it so far but I think the bangs are way, way too long. But the stylist kept telling me how great "long" bangs are so what the hey, I thought I'd give them a try.

I think I like my hair pulled back more though..

I always miss out on the fabulous Sonia Kashuk limited edition brush sets when they go on clearance so when the newest sets packaged in a chic teal and orange combo came out, I made sure to keep my eyes wide open for any sales. For months, I checked up on them during every visit. Being the bargain shopper that I am, I was not about to pay full price when I knew they'd eventually go on clearance.

Yesterday, when I stopped by Target for some lunch, I got lucky! Most (or all?) of the products from the Spring collection were plastered with clearance stickers featuring amazing markdowns. I quickly checked for the Gold Mine set (7 piece brush set) but it was gone. I left with the Small Treasure set (4 piece brush set) without even fully knowing if I wanted it.

Later on, I visited another Target and found three Gold Mine sets left! I was ecstatic. =) I picked up one and left feeling pretty darn happy and accomplished. I'll test these out during the next few weeks but from what I can tell, these brushes feel fairly soft and look nice for the price. We'll see how they hold up though. As far as online Target reviews go, the Gold Mine set has a 5 star rating.

The Perfect (Affordable) Peep-Toe Nude Heels? Introducing Nine West "Zuki"

I've really been trying to shop for items only on my wishlist in order to stray from buying things that I don't "need." Recently, during a recent Piperlime sale (20% off all orders), I snatched up a pair of Nine West "Zuki" heels in "Light Natural Leather" hoping they would be the perfect nude peep-toe heels. I think they come close.

The heels are simply gorgeous. They come in multiple shades ranging from black to natural to a snakeskin pattern. The heels feature a peep-toe (to me, the perfect amount -not too much toe and not too little!) and stacked heel.

The 4 inch heel (with 3/4 inch) platform is the perfect height for a short gal like me. While the heels are indeed high (and a wee bit scary since I never wear heels), they're comfortable enough and are easy to walk in -given I've only walked around the house in these so far. The only thing I dislike about the sizing is that the back of my foot slips out from time to time. (I noticed many customers had the same problem according to reviews from multiple websites.) However, luckily, I had purchased some "back of the heel" inserts just before receiving these and they really helped the problem.

Another major plus is that they are pretty darn cheap (compared to other quality nude heels) at around $45-50 (at most sites) on sale. I ordered mine for $36 (including 20% off) and also received free shipping. From what I've seen online, the regular price is $79-89 for these.

Although there are a few minor flawsome scuffs (on the heel and platform), I don't even care because they are great for the price. And I don't want to send them back and risk missing out on these beautiful shoes.

Also, I thought I'd mention that while light natural leather is gorgeous, I do wish it was a shade or two darker since I have medium-tan skin. These would be amazing nude heels for someone with a paler skin -but they can of course still work with darker tones.

On another note, I think Piperlime has the nicest packaging. Who else wraps the shoe boxes with tissue and adds little cards and even a shopping bag?! I'll keep shopping with them for the packaging alone!

I've been craving for a lightweight blazer/jacket in a pale, summery shade since the weather's getting warmer. I love the structure of a blazer -it automatically dresses up whatever you're wearing. However, I really like the light weight and "easiness" of something like a cardigan so I was hoping to find a blazer in a nice, lightweight material.

Gap came out with the lightweight crepe blazer (dusty rose available in stores) a while back and I've been waiting for a good sale. They had it during the 40% sale but I didn't give in since it was still nearly $60 (plus tax). Yesterday, my boy and I stopped by the mall and I noticed it on sale for $49.99 plus an extra 30% off. A $98 jacket for $34.99? Yes please! It's a bit loose but I can deal..

Forever 21 had this pretty watercolor blue jacket above on their site about 2-3 weeks ago for around $27. I must've checked about 8 times for this jacket (in stores) but never found it. It sold out online in 2 or 3 days. I'm (sort of) kicking myself for not just ordering it but 1) Forever 21 sizing is not consistent 2) The return policy sucks -only store credit 3) Quality is never guaranteed.. I've seen so many gorgeous items from F21 but when I go to feel the material, it ends up being a disaster.

I hope they bring it back or at least bring it to the stores because I'm in love with the color.

Anyways, my Spring classes are about to come to an end which means I'm in full procrastination mode. I'll be back by next week. Have a lovely next 2 weeks. <33

I thought my computers got some sort of virus yesterday so I didn't touch them all day.. Turns out everything was fine. =) Here's a wishlist I wrote up during class in order of what I "need" most. I forgot to add 3 things:

Jacquard coat (pale color)
Sky blue (light) jacket
Nude, taupe, or beige sandals or wedges

Why is everything I want so difficult to find?! (Except for the Gap Legging Jeans.. waiting for a great sale.) If I found all these things (without breaking the bank!), I feel like my wardrobe would finally be complete -well of course, with some extra things thrown in there too.

Kitty in Black

Time after time, I visit Sanrio in hopes of finding cute but wearable "grown up" accessories. Usually, I walk out with jewelry (earrings and rings) but no purses or bags. I've been yearning for some new Hello Kitty (or other character) accessories that aren't plastered in pink and bright obnoxious colors. Also something to factor in? The price tag. There are occasions where I'll absolutely love something only to be put off by the price tag. $128 Hello Kitty cotton t-shirt? No thanks.

Well, the last time I visited, I did stumble upon something great and reasonably priced. I'd been eyeing the sequin wallet (in black) for months but never wanted to spend $40 it. Sure, it might by "cheap" compared to the other Sanrio wallets, but I could definitely get a better quality one for less. I lucked out and found it for $20 (on clearance). I got a grumpy girl that day though -she wouldn't give me stamps for the sale items. Everyone else always gives me stamps for any items I buy.. and extra too!

To go with the wallet, I also got the coin purse for $5 (regular price). I do have another Hello Kitty coin purse but it's too small to fit my credit cards.

And lastly, I got this Hello Kitty tote (same material and everything as the coin purse). I actually got this during another trip since this store sold out of them in a single day. I'm beyond happy to have found this.. it's basically a gigantic tote bag with a zipper but I love the design and colors.

Floral Flats for Friday (Express & Marshalls Deals)

I've been searching for some patterned flats for months. I needed the perfect pair to replace my favorite, nasty, worn out Old Navy flats purchased about 3 years ago. I was looking for something like a floral print -or any cool pattern with lots of colors (so that they could be worn with many outfits.)

I found two pairs. The first is a pair of bright Lucky Brand flats I found at Marshall's for $30. They're the same "Emmie" style as the last pair I got but with a floral pattern. And guess what? I found them online at Piperlime and Bloomingdales for double the price!!

The second pair is from Express. I bought two pairs of shoes there -the flats and some sandals. The flats went FAST. I wanted the navy pair also but they were sold out. There were only three or so left in the purple. They're no longer available online either. =\

The flats were on sale for about $20 and the sandals were $15. BUT, my awesome shopping buddy had a Express coupon for $15 off a $30 purchase so I scored both for $20 (plus tax)!

Here are the sandals. They're even cheaper online -just $12.45. I needed a new pair too. I'm sick of my Old Navy flip flops and wanted something a little "fancier." Plus, my little sister keeps stealing all my Old Navy ones..

And if you're curious about my beloved old flats, here they are (above). It's time I retired them. They're so beat up. I've sewn them up, added insoles -I've done everything I can but they're at the point where nothing else can be done. I've searched high and low on Ebay for another pair but I just can't find them. I know it's kind of ridiculous how much I love them.. but they went with everything. I got compliments on them everywhere I went! And best of all, they were under $10. Whyyyyyy didn't I buy ten back up pairs?!

Anyways, have a wonderful fantastic amazing marvelous Friday everyone. I know I'm happy it's finally here. The whole 3 day weekend really threw me off -I've been super tired all week and really need another weekend to recuperate.

Iman Display @ Target

As promised, I have photos of the Iman display at Target. They're not the best -they were taken with my iPhone but hopefully the pictures give you an idea of the line.

The line includes lipsticks, glosses, foundations, powders, blushes, eyeshadows, bronzers, and (I think) some skincare items too. Most of the shades are rather dark (no pale lipsticks and glosses here!) but I think that makes it stand out from other drugstore brands.

I have this habit of buying things I love in every color. That's why when you look at my closet, you'll see 15 of the same shirt -but in different colors. When I really love a shirt, I won't just buy 2 or 3 versions, I'll buy every shade they have. I swear it's a sickness. But luckily, I tend to buy things when they're on sale. =)

Take the Old Navy Ruffle-Front Jersey Top for example. I bought the white but loved it so much that I had to go back for the others! They didn't have the pink but I left with the gray, plum, and slate blue. BUT, I only do this when I'm getting a good deal. I scored each for about $3.50 a piece!

I also got some lace camis. The first (far left) was only $2! The others were about $5 each. I can't find the first two online but check out the lace-trim cami here.

I also picked up this gray leopard tank for $5.

Along with these tanks, I also got a pair of jeans and some cropped pants for $4 each! Plus, they were both in petite sizing! Could you believe my luck?! Definitely check out your Old Navy clearance section if you get the chance.

May 2011 Favorites

I didn't have a Nudey Tuesday prepared and figured since yesterday's post was a foundation review, it could count as an early Nudey Tuesday. Today I'm focusing on my favorite products of May -products that have been used regularly with nearly all of my makeup looks during the month.

Revlon ColorStay Mineral Finishing Powder in Brighten- This is a good and cheap highlighter that gives off that "soft and natural" glow. It's great for every day use -I just hate the bulky packaging. (Review here)
CoverGirl NatureLuxe Liquid Silk Foundation- I've been using this on and off for about two weeks and so far so good. This is just what I needed -something super lightweight that doesn't irritate my sensitive skin. My "foundation" budget is usually much higher since foundation is one of those products where finding the right one is absolutely necessary but this is so cheap at just a little over $10! Shiseido Benefiance Concentrated Anti-Wrinkle Eye Cream- I'm not one to buy expensive skincare products. I usually use whatever my dermatologist recommends and that list consists of lotions, creams, and ointments from the drugstore or prescription items. Over the last few months (I believe due to the weather), I started to get a lot of dryness around my eyes. I'd wake up with flaky skin on my eyelid and underneath my lash line. Needless to say, it was annoying, irritating, and very unattractive. =P I opened up a sample of Benefiance that I received with a GWP not thinking it would do much. The next day, the skin around my eyes was so much better! I've been using this every other day or so and my skin's really improved. The dryness and fine lines (due to the dryness) have disappeared. However, due to the price, I'm still going to shop around before committing to buying this. $52 is a lot for just 0.51 oz of product. (Buy here)
MAC Kissable Lipcolour in Enchantee- My boyfriend got this for me when the Peacocky Collection launched and I regret not having bought more. The formula is amazing! It's kind of like a liquid lipstick but with a slightly glossy finish (not as glossy and shiny as regular gloss though.) I'm loving the bright pink shade for spring/summer.
Prestige My Longest Lashes Mascara- I've been searching for this since it came out but just recently found it at a nearby Rite Aid. It makes my lashes look clean, long, and defined and does a better job than most high-end mascaras I've tried. I've been using this in conjunction with My Biggest Lashes for the "ultimate long lashes" -or at least the best my lashes can do.
It Cosmetics Eyes of Seduction Lash Primer- I've been on the hunt for a new lash primer ever since my beloved Shiseido The Makeup Mascara Base was discontinued. The new and not improved formula did not do the original justice whatsoever. I've gone through nearly a dozen primers now and none have worked out. Eyes of Seduction does a good job -it basically enhances the length, volume, and thickening abilities of my mascara and holds onto a curl really well. I like this but my beloved Shiseido was better. On the upside though, it's cheap compared to other high-end lash primers. (Buy here)
Sephora Super Nourishing Lip Balm- I rotate lip balms quite often as I feel that when I stick to one for too long, it stops working. But when I rotate one out every 3-4 weeks or so, my favorites tend to work better (if that makes any sense..) Lately I've been using Sephora's newest lip balm. While my expectations were rather low, the product turned out to be pretty amazing! Who knew a $5 lip balm could be perfection? It moisturizes my lips and keeps them super soft. I also love the packaging -no squeeze tube or icky pot here! Also, there's a yummy vanilla scent too. (Buy here)
L'Oreal Sublime Bronze One Day- My skin is usually medium/tan to begin with but I lost any signs of a tan during the last few months. While my body is still "medium" toned overall, my legs are super white! I've been using this gel for sunny days when I wear dresses and it's been doing a great job. This gives a great, not-too-orange tan without being too unnatural looking. If you have a medium to lightly tanned skin tone to begin with, I think this would work very well for you. However, if you're very pale, it could be a bit drastic. Mixing it with some lotion and gradually building up the "tan" would probably be your best bet. (Buy here)

CoverGirl NatureLuxe Collection: Liquid Silk Foundation & Gloss Balm

I'm sure you've noticed loads of new CoverGirl products pouring through the cosmetics aisles of your local drugstores. Today's review is all about the Liquid Silk Foundation ($12.99 for 1 oz) and Gloss Balm ($7.49 for 0.07 oz) which are part of their new NatureLuxe Collection. To be honest, the last time I used a CoverGirl product was probably in high school. Their Lipslick (in a silvery whiteish pink) was a a staple in my makeup bag (I cringe when I look back on it!) and my first foundation was made by them as well.

However, as I learned more about makeup, I preferred other drugstore brands like Maybelline and Revlon. But after trying these two products, CoverGirl has definitely made a comeback in my book -I wouldn't be surprised if some new products showed up in my makeup drawers anytime soon.

I'll start off with my favorite of the two -the Liquid Silk Foundation (with SPF 10). This stuff is amazing! I'd describe the foundation as more of a tinted moisturizer or very light foundation. It goes on smoothly and gives light coverage leaving a slightly dewy finish (but nothing over the top.) The foundation is feels so light on the skin -I forget I'm wearing it! It covers all my veins and light marks well and best of all, it doesn't make my forehead look super ashy or gray. Also, it doesn't dry out or irritate my super dry, sensitive skin which is a huge plus.

The foundation does have the standard "makeup" scent but after applying it, the scent fades. It lasts me through an average day (about 5 hours) with minor fading.

I received #350 Oak which was the darkest shade of the five or six BzzAgent offered (there are tons more shades in store). The shade is a little light for me but it works. When the weather gets warmer I'll have to mix it with some bronzing gel.

Gloss Balm in Muscat

The Gloss Balm (with SPF 15) is nice but I'm not amazed. It's nice -basically a (very) tinted lip balm with a glossy finish. The color payoff is good and leaves my lips with a tint of strawberry red with some orange (and subtle red sparkles.) It lasts about 2 hours before it starts to fade but it does leave a very light tint of color. There is a slight artificial strawberry makeup scent but the scent fades once it's applied.

I stopped by Target today and was VERY excited to stumble across the new Iman cosmetics line. I picked up the Sheer Finish Bronzing Powder in Afterglow ($15.99) and Luxury Blushing Powder Duo in Allure ($11.99). Prices seem to be comparable to Sonia Kashuk -more expensive than the "average" drugstore brands but a lot cheaper than higher-end. Will hopefully update soon with cell phone pics of all the products!

I forgot to post this during the week but better late than never right? It's still 8 p.m. here in California and since some CVS stores are 24 hour, I thought I'd post! I picked these up for $4.99 a piece and got $4 Extra Bucks for each -which made them basically 99 cents a bottle. I haven't worked with any of them yet but the shades are definitely winners. (All are Top Speed except for Blue Lagoon.) Limit 6 per household.

Prior to this spring/summer season, I was always into the basics -tees, tanks, leggings, and cardigans were the pieces I reached for while getting dressed. My main squeeze was makeup. While makeup is still very much dancing through my veins, my love for fashion has come back.

After high school, I kind of forgot about fashion as I was discovering the wonderful world of makeup. I'm sure I've mentioned it but since I was about 4-years-old up until the end of high school, I wanted to be a fashion designer. My mother was a designer and I studied, sketched, and dreamed of being a designer from a very young age. But I guess, reality struck and I decided that designing wasn't "stable enough" so I opted out of it when I graduated.

I realized that I kind of stopped shopping for clothing as much as before and focused all my time on makeup. Well, in the past few months, I've been on a wild clothes hauling spree and I can't stop! Lately, I've been so into lace, pastels, and floral prints. My wardrobe has suddenly become a mix of creams, nudes, and dusty roses. But, while I currently smitten with very girly patterns and shades, I still have a strong love for bold navy blues, blacks, and stripes. My fashion taste is very diverse.

Anyways, while boyfriend was looking at watches today, I somehow stumbled into Forever 21 again. It was like a dream come true -endless selection of LACE for some low, low prices. =) Too bad the other dresses I wanted were sold out in my size.

Here's dress #1 ($22.80). I'm loving this nude dress with its Peter Pan collar. At first glance, it looks very granny-ish but I'm glad I gave it a chance! The hem hits above the knee so it does show some leg which is nice since the collar's a tad high up. Boyfriend hates but at least I love it. I can't wait to wear it with a satin black bow and some black ~~heels~~ flats -I rarely wear heels!

(I apologize I can't find either pieces online -I think they're new though so maybe they'll show up in the next few days.)

Here's #2 ($19.80). While the first dress had more of a whimsical feel, this dress wraps around the body clinging onto every curve.I wasn't sure about it at first but after trying it on, I really like it! And the print looks like it came straight out of a black and white film -it's very different.

I'm absolutely loving lace at the moment. Lace isn't only for your undergarments -it can look fabulous in your dresses, tops, and even blazers as well. =) What are your favorite spring/summer trends? Share!

Nudey Tuesday: Revlon ColorStay Mineral Finishing Powders in Brighten, Sunkiss, Suntan Matte ($3.69 steal!)

Over the weekend, I went to CVS to check out their clearance sale offerings. I didn't find too much, which is actually a good thing, but I did grab two Revlon ColorStay Mineral Finishing Powders in Sunkiss and Suntan Matte. I had already purchased Brighten about a year ago so I thought I'd give the 2 other shades a shot.

The Packaging: The powders are packaged in thick black compacts with clear covers. Surprisingly, I've dropped Brighten several times and it hasn't broken -the compacts are bulky and ugly but pretty darn sturdy.

The Product: Brighten and Suntan Matte are slightly sheer but buildable, so you'll definitely be able to achieve good color payoff. Sunkiss is pigmented and only required 1-2 swipes to get amazing color payoff. The powders are smooth and easy to blend. They're perfect for adding some highlight to any look or a warm, golden glow for summer.

The only downside is that I don't feel that they last long -about 3 to 4 hours tops. But for the price, they're pretty awesome.

However, because of they don't last long, I wouldn't say that these are worth any extra trouble or effort. If you see them, get them. If you don't, don't kill yourself trying to find them.

I can't find it online at any of the usual drugstore websites so I think these may be getting discontinued. However, they are available at LOTS of places online (amazon, discount sites, etc.) so not to worry. Just be sure to only buy from sellers you trust!
